I’m trying to catch up on my pre-work escapades, so these posts are going to be a bit behind where I actually am. I’m hoping that that problem will be fixed soon enough, though! So, anyway, I thought I’d cover my trip from America to Japan! So, I applied when I was living in Virginia, so I interviewed in Washington, DC. But I didn’t fly out of DC. Because […]
I started off this blog strong, but I’m already getting lazy! (Same goes for my vlogging attempts!) I figured I should write something today, the last day of July, because if I had continued with JET, I’d be leaving for Japan tomorrow. (Group B FTW) But because I’m doing Interac now, I have 13 more days until I leave. Wait, that’s less than two weeks… Where did the time go?!
JET has been on point this year. I don’t know why people like to rag on JET in particular about long wait times, etc. when they’ve been great so far! People online like to talk about how fast the Interac turnaround is, but that’s about it… the rest of the experience has been pretty mediocre so far. Sure, you find out if you’ve been accepted to interview/hired faster, but there’s […]
I have been so pumped lately because of the exchange rate. Thank you, Abenomics, for weakening the yen. As of current, the average rate is 120 yen to the dollar. That’s a whopping 20% more (on average). When I went to Japan for study abroad, the exchange rate was about 80 yen to the dollar. That was painful… 🙁
Thinking of bringing medication with you to Japan? I know I most definitely am… I had pretty bad acne and have to take medication every once in a while to deal with occasional flareups. I also am planning on bringing a year’s supply of birth control with me when I come. And I already have a bunch of ibuprofen/miscellaneous over the counter meds that I’ve gathered in preparation for the […]
I’ve been finding that, lately, I feel like I’m living in a state of limbo. I have a life right now and I have responsibilities, but after I got the job offer for Japan, none of that seemed important anymore. August seems so far away, but if you really think about it, it’s no time at all. I have so much to do and prepare before leaving but I can’t […]
