Chances are, you’ve stumbled onto my blog doing a quick Google search for something Interac-related to read so you don’t go crazy waiting for updates from Interac. I understand completely. It’s a long and tedious wait… And I’ve been through it too, so I can sympathize.
I’ve included my entire Interac timeline, from my application to my first day of training. I departed as part of the Autumn 2015 group. There are quite a few things you need to wait on from them, unfortunately, so the list is pretty long…
1/26/15: Received a call to schedule the phone interview
3/13/15: Application file/documents sent to Tokyo
3/19/15: Acceptance email!!
3/19/15: Confirmed my acceptance via email
4/30/15: Submitted signed offer of employment and CoE application form
5/17/15: Received general information email
5/17/15: Submitted online resume
6/15/15: Email saying placement process is underway and I will arrive sometime in August
7/13/15: Recieved my contract
7/15/15: Recieved a housing choice (asked Interac to find me housing on 7/15)
7/27/15: Received my school assignments
7/27/15: Received confirmation of housing
And there you have it! Obviously, I excluded some things like how long my visa took, etc. but that’s really all dependent on your consulate… And on that note, it’s important to remember that these are my dates, and a lot of people received their placement before me (not many after, to be honest).
But anyway, best of luck to you. Remember to be patient… The wait sucks, but it’s (generally) worth it! If you have any questions, feel free to let me know in the comments below!
